JACKSON, Tenn.- Cold temperatures are bringing trouble to some car homeowners in the West Tennessee area. Auto shops from around the Jackson area are warning those who are experiencing troubles with their battery or tire pressure to seek professional help. Several auto shops from around the area provide free winterizing services. Those services include tire pressure adjustments, battery analysis, coolant checks and exterior checks. “We offer free services, done by a professional, to check and see if your car is ready for the winter,” said auto service technician Joshua Burns Jr. Burns said batteries get strained during extreme temperatures causing them not work properly. As for tire pressure, incorrect pressure can lead to unbalanced wear on the tires and bad gas mileage. “Doing the preventive maintenance and simple checks can prevent serious problems in the future. We hope people take advantage of our services, and we are here to help,” Burns said. Experts say that temperatures in the 20s, can cause your tire pressure to drop 5 pounds.
