BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Brownsville officers on Friday afternoon released the name of the victim from Wednesday’s fatal shooting. A’Darius Flagg was the 17-year-old killed in the sixth shooting this week in the city. Early Sunday morning, Tereon Taylor was fatally wounded in another shooting. Though police said the two incidents are not connected, the city of Brownsville is shaken. Friends and family gathered Friday night to remember both men. The prayer service and candlelight vigil honored both Flagg and Taylor by those who came together to take a stand against the rash of violence. Pastor Ricky Reed from Word of Life Church in Brownsville said this week served as a reality check. “For this much to happen in a short period of time, people are fearful,” Reed said. According to Brownsville police, Tereon Taylor died early Monday morning after being shot on East Cherry Street. Wednesday, 17-year-old A’Darius Flagg was killed in the sixth shooting in the city in four days. “The town needs to come together because we’re a small town,” friend Anthony Boyd said. “We already don’t got much, and all the violence isn’t going to bring anything to the town.” As friends and family gathered Friday night, emotions still ran high. “It’s just like somebody close to you constantly, constantly, constantly getting killed. It’s gotta stop,” friend Dominique Adams said. Many in attendance hope the violence in their small town ends now. Police said Tereon Taylor was shot back in September but survived that injury. That same day, another 23-year-old, Jarvis Hines, was shot and killed in Brownsville.
