Lincoln Memorial drops suit over law school
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Lincoln Memorial University is dropping the lawsuit it filed against the American Bar Association after that organization declined to accredit its law school. The suit claimed the school met all the standards but was denied accreditation in order to limit the number of law schools in the country, and also the number of lawyers. The case had been on hold to give the school and the ABA a chance to work through an appeal of the accreditation denial. The Knoxville News Sentinel reports judge on Monday agreed to dismiss the case. The school now is preparing to reapply for accreditation with the help of a consultant. It already has approval from the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners, which gave the school until 2017 to receive ABA accreditation.
