Aiding the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was the mission for a group of U.T. Martin students. Wednesday afternoon, brothers of the Zeta Pi chapter of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity held their 26th annual fundraising event for the children of the hospital, called, “Push for St. Jude.” Fraternity members began the walk form Union City to Memphis, pushing wheelbarrows and collecting donations for cancer research along the way. Organizers said it is an event that has become a mission members look forward to each year. “St. Jude is such a good cause,” said Ian Garrigan, ATO St. Jude philanthropy chairman. “They help children with cancer and it costs so much money to fund research and the treatments that any kind of donations that they can get, they’re always taking. And we just want to help them out as much as we can.” Members said they have raised nearly $100,000 each year. So far, they have raised about $1 million, collectively.
