Parents and community members were given the opportunity to help Jackson-Madison County school board members select and new superintendent. This forum, held a Jackson State Community College, was just one of three that took place across the city, Monday night. Those who attended gave suggestions on what qualifying factors they believe board member should consider while going through the selection process of finding the schools next superintendent once Doctor Nancy Zambito steps down in June. It is important for people to come to this (forum) because, because you need ownership in the school system, said Janis Carroll, president of the Jackson-Madison County Education Association. It is not just the students and not just the families that are in the school system. It is the whole communities. School leaders will meet with consultants from the firm BWP and Associates, who are assisting board members with the search at 7, Tuesday morning to discuss Monday night’s input.
