Turnout Low In Kentucky Election
Predictions of low voter turnout for Kentucky’s primary election proved correct.
The Secretary of State’s office reports on its website that with almost 100 percent of the precincts reporting Tuesday, voter turnout statewide in unofficial results totaled 10.3 percent. That’s 301,814 ballots cast out of more than 2.9 million registered voters.
Reports of extended periods of time between voters came in from precincts from Louisville to Bowling Green.
The ballot included the Republican gubernatorial nomination, which was won by state Senate President David Williams and his running mate, Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer. Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear was unopposed.
