Children at the Boys and Girls Club in east Jackson were able to explore the world without ever leaving the building, Wednesday. 35 computers and five laptops are helping students are helping students surf the world wide web, all made possible by the statewide “Connected Tennessee’s Computers 4 Kids” program. The projects sends computers, academic support programs and workforce training for two specific groups: those in the state’s foster care system and those who are active in the state’s 76 Boys and Girls Clubs. “Kids get frustrated when computers don’t work they don’t operate the way that they should so one they are gonna bang on a little bit harder on them to try to get them to go a little bit faster and it just doesn’t work, said Sabrina Anderson, executive director of the Jackson Boys and Girls Club. “So these new computers will be so much smoother and easier and not frustrating for my kids.” The local “Preparing Tennessee’s Next Generation for Success” program is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
