12 Year Old Charged With Rape
Police say a 12-year-old boy from the Memphis suburb of Germantown has been charged with raping a 9-year-old boy.
Germantown police say the 12-year-old middle school student was charged Tuesday, according to The Commercial Appeal. Police Inspector Lee Covey says officials at the 9-year-old’s elementary school reported the alleged rape Monday after the boy talked to the school’s counselor.
Covey said the boy told the counselor that the incident happened last week in woods near his home.
Covey says the boy who was charged did not give a statement. No names were released.
Memphis and Shelby County Juvenile Court Chief Probation Officer Barry Mitchell says the older boy was released on bond Wednesday and referred to clinical services. A court date is pending.
