KY Sec Of State Results To Be Reviewed

Republican candidate Hilda Legg has asked for a review of election results that show her opponent Bill Johnson edging her out for the GOP nomination for Kentucky secretary of state.

The secretary of state’s office said Friday the recanvass will be done next Thursday by county boards of election.

A recanvass involves double-checking math and looking for human errors in data entry. It is a machine-by-machine review of vote totals produced by county election officials. Counties pick up the minimal expense.

Johnson finished ahead of Legg by about 1,100 votes out of more than 131,000 cast in Tuesday’s election, according to unofficial results. Johnson has said he’s comfortable with his lead.

Lexington lawyer Alison Lundergan Grimes won the Democratic nomination for the job as Kentucky’s chief elections officer.
