Chester Co. Relay for Life

Hundreds of people are braving the threat of rain that could be coming our way to spend their Friday night walking, all in an effort to battle cancer. The American Cancer Society kicked off its Relay for Life event in Henderson, Friday night. The annual 24 hour walk raises money for cancer research. Teams are participating and they will not just be walking. Activities have been set up all around the parking lot of Chester County High School. Cancer survivors said event like this give them a hope for the future. “To get to know our survivors, this is a great opportunity,” said Teresa King, with Chester County Relay for Life. “We work with them during the year, we develop relationships and really get to know them and they are so grateful, they are such a grateful people for everything that you do it’s just over joyous to get to know them all.” Cancer survivors and those who lost their battles to the disease were honored, during the luminaries ceremony. A name is on each of the hundreds of lights that surround the track. The Relay for Life event will continue until Saturday morning.
