Educator of the Year Honored
Outstanding educators in Madison County were honored by Jackson-Madison County Schools and the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, Tuesday. Pam McCarty who teaches K-5 gifted students was chosen as Teacher of the Year. McCarty teaches students at Malesus, Andrew Jackson and Alexander Schools. She said she is honored by the recognition. We’re there day and night, year after year, teaching and just doing what we’re supposed to do,” said Pam McCarty, a K-5 gifted teacher. “We have principals change. We have administration change and the bottom line is the teacher is always there so, you know, I think it’s great that they recognize the strength of our school system.” Building, system and regional Teachers of the Year were also honored, including, among the building level group was ABC 7 Eyewitness Sports’ Greg Hammond, who also teaches at South Side High School.
