Flood Response To Be Reviewed

Officials from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and its federal counterpart will review the state’s response to recent flooding and tornadoes in Tennessee and discuss the next steps to recovery.

Speaking on Thursday at the state emergency operations center in Nashville will be TEMA director Jim Bassham and Federal Emergency Management Agency Coordinating Officer Winfield “Q” Montague.

Violent storms at the end of April that included some 40 tornadoes killed three dozen people, mostly in East Tennessee. Soon after, flooding hit communities and farmland along the Mississippi River and its tributaries in West Tennessee.

FEMA has declared 15 Tennessee counties eligible for federal assistance.
