Crockett Co. Deputies Make Arrests in New Year’s Eve Shooting

Deputies in Crockett County have charged a teen and his mother in the fatal new year’s eve shooting of an Alamo teen. Tammy Mealer, 41, is charged with providing a handgun to the juvenile. Her son, who we are not identifying by name due to his age, is charged with reckless homicide. Deputies believe Mealer gave the gun to her son, which he showed to other teen at his house, including 14-year-old Jason Carter. He is believed to have accidentally fired the weapon, fatally wounding Carter. Mealer is currently free on $ 2,500 bond.
