TN Halts Road Projects For Holiday
The road ahead will be clear of construction in Tennessee for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation will halt road-building projects at noon on Friday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.
TDOT Commissioner John Schroer says his department wants to keep traffic moving for a safe holiday weekend but cautions that lower speed limits where lanes are altered in work zones will be enforced.
The American Automobile Association expects a nearly 12 percent increase from 2010 in the number of people who will travel at least 50 miles from home over the weekend. More than 600,000 of them will go by car.
