Gas Prices Affect Weekend Travel

If you and your family plan on traveling this Memorial Day weekend, leaders at Triple-A said you might notice a slight increase at the pump. Travel experts believe the slow rise is directly tied to the $1 a gallon jump in gas prices from this time last year. Officials said the spike in gas prices could have a negative affect on families with lower household incomes, since filling up the tank take a bigger cut of their overall budget. ABC 7 Eyewitness News spoke with one man who said his wallet is definitely feeling the pain at the pump. “It’s restricted alot of my traveling, said driver Patrick Williams. “I travel all over the United States for work and I can’t really go on vacations because I am always spending money getting to and from work.” Experts said with oil prices currently hovering near $100 a barrel, the demand for gasoline here in the U.S. and a volatile dollar could have an affect on future pricing.
