A West Tennessee family said they went to lay their love one to rest at an Adamsville funeral home, but had to move the body to another facility because the building was too hot. “They were here getting prepared when they found the (air conditioning) unit wasn’t working,” said Chief Bill McCall of the Adamsville Police. Family members said they had to scurry to make calls, directing everyone to the Savannah funeral home. “I don’t think it’s right for somebody to be stealing from a church or a funeral home. It’s just not human, not right,” said Eddie Ganus, brother of the deceased. Ganus said his sister owned and operated a restaurant in Selmer and was loved by everyone she met. “With the family member laying here, it’s just disrespectful,” said Ganus. Chief McCall said stealing copper and other metals and selling them to recycling centers is a growing trend in remote areas. “We can kind can tell if people are questionable, but a lot of times we have no clue and then the cops will come to us a few days later and ask us about this particular person,” said Andrea Sanders of SMC Recycling.
