Police said Emmanuel Moses moved to Newbern from Lauderdale County about four months ago. In that time, he has racked up quite the list of suspected crimes. “We would have five in one night. Then a week goes by, 10 in one night and then over the course of next week, 10 days about 15 or 16 more,” explained Newbern Police Department Investigator Rodney Wright. Hiding in the darkness of the night, Investigator Wright said Emmanuel Moses broke into dozens of cars in Newbern over a six week period. Last week, they said he took it one step further by breaking into two homes, one of which was Ashley Henry’s. Henry lives with her boyfriend and said the suspect was looking for electronics. “[He took a] flat screen TV, my computer, his computer, an amp, about 10 blue-rays, and both a DVD player remote, blue-ray DVD player and a TV remote,” Henry added. Police said on Friday morning they finally gathered enough evidence to arrest Moses, so they along with two state officers out of Henning and a K-9 made their move. “When we pulled up there, we were hoping we could get to the apartment and get both doors locked before he would be able to try escape. But unfortunately he was outside,” added Inv. Wright. Police said that is when Moses took off running from a Newbern parking lot. Less than an hour later he was spotted in Dyersburg, but when the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol tried to arrest him, he again took off. “It was just a creek bed, an overgrown deep ditch. He ran from the road right into that ditch, then I believe he used the ditch to conceal himself to get far enough away,” explained Inv. Wright. The next day, Ripley police said they too caught a glimpse of the suspected burglar. “Emmanuel Moses evaded Ripley police on foot as well and that was out last known sighting,” said Inv. Wright. Moses is currently charged with Auto Burglary, aggravated burglary and evading arrest. Police are offering a reward if you can help catch him.
