Musicians HOF Future In Doubt
The owner of the Musicians Hall of Fame said he is worried a plan to reopen the hall in the Municipal Auditorium is falling apart.
The original location on Sixth Avenue South in downtown Nashville was condemned by the city more than a year ago to make way for a new convention center. Many of the hall’s items were damaged in the May 2010 flood, although restorers were able to salvage 96 percent of them, including a guitar owned by Johnny Cash.
Owner Joe Chambers told The Tennessean that he hopes the auditorium commission will approve a proposed lease during a meeting on Wednesday, but said he was told by Metro officials he wouldn’t be able to take control of the space until April 2012.
