JACKSON, Tenn. — A Kellogg Company spokesperson has confirmed plans for a new off-site warehouse in Jackson the company said will add 100 jobs. The Madison County Industrial Parks Committee approved the site plan and development Tuesday. An empty piece of property at the Airport Industrial Park in Jackson could soon be home to a new Kellogg‘s warehouse. “It’s basically a distribution center for all of North America,” Madison County Commissioner Larry Lowrance said. Lowrance said the new facility will bring about 100 jobs to the community. “In a way it doesn’t sound like a lot, but for those 100 people and their families it’s a tremendous amount,” Lowrance said. The county said a company headquartered out of California will build the facility and Kellogg‘s will lease the property. “Kellogg’s having purchased that facility makes us feel good that we’ve got a long future with Kellogg’s,” Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris said. Harris said they look to potentially close on the property by the end of next week. “They’re ready to go the minute closing occurs,” he said. County leaders said the facility will have a little more than a million square feet and could eventually expand. “They’re a great corporate citizen,” Lowrance said. “It’s just a great asset to this county.” Kellogg‘s said it expects the warehouse to be operational by late next year.
