Hardeman Co. requiring pledge of allegiance, moment of silence in schools

HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn. — After a resolution proposed by Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain, the county commissioners voted to require schools in Hardeman County to have the pledge of allegiance in school every day. The unanimous vote by the commissioners also will require students to have a moment of silence after the pledge. Sain told those in attendance he always said the pledge when he was a kid and thought it would be a good idea for students in the county to do the same. Sain went on to say he hopes surrounding counties consider implementing the same policy in their schools. The mayor said once the vote was final the responsibility to implement the requirements in schools is now in the hands of the director of schools, Warner Ross.
