HENDERSON, Tenn. — Freed-Hardeman University’s 50th Benefit Dinner will still feature Bill Cosby, the university confirmed Wednesday on its Facebook page. The Church of Christ-affiliated university previously has said Cosby was chosen because of his appeal to alumni. “We committed to a contract with Bill Cosby many months ago after soliciting input from alumni and friends,” the post states. Cosby recently has been the focus of numerous rape allegations. School officials say the focus of the dinner, scheduled for Dec. 5, is to help students. “Their real interest is benefiting Freed-Hardeman and students with scholarships,” University President Dr. Joe Wiley said Monday.
