Beau is saved, for now

DYERSBURG, Tenn.– Beau the dog has been saved, for now. Beau was supposed to be euthanized Thursday morning, but a Dyersburg judge granted an appeal by the defense to give them and the dog more time. The judge granted a stay on Beau, which means Beau is safe from being euthanized as of now. Beau’s Owner, Danny Higgins, and the defense lawyer representing him will have an undisclosed amount of time to formulate a formal appeal that will challenge the city ordinance. “We believe that this dog is not vicious, and that he is harmless,” said Bill Edwards, Higgins’ attorney. Beau will remain at the Dyersburg Humane Society while the legal process takes its course. Danny Higgins continues to visit his dog every morning and will continue to do so. “People have the right to have pets, our goal is to save Beau. Our second goal is to fix this dreadful law,” Edwards said.
