DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — A fire destroyed a home in Dyer County Thursday afternoon. Firefighters said they rushed to the scene to find a home engulfed in flames, flaring more than a foot from the roof. Officials said, it took a couple hours to completely put out the fire, and that no one was home at the time. Dyer County Fire Department as well as Tigrett, Fowlkes, and Dyersburg Fire Department were on the scene.. Dyer County Fire Chief James Medling said the cause is still under investigation. “We have our cause and origins investigator here right now looking at it and trying to determine a cause and hopefully before the day is over with, we’ll have some type of initial cause,” said Chief Medling. The homeowner said the home is not salvageable, and that her family did not even have time to retrieve clothes or photo albums.
