Woman accused in Macy’s thefts appears in court

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A woman accused of stealing more than $1,500 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in Jackson faced a judge Monday. Kasey Leigh Summers is charged with theft of property over $1,000 after a loss prevention officer at Macy’s recovered items from her in the parking lot Thursday after she allegedly had left the store without paying, according to court documents. The recovered items included 10 jackets, 10 pairs of jeans, 14 shirts, seven pairs of socks and one pair of sweat pants with a total value of $1,557, the documents state. The loss prevention officer was informed by a store employee that Summers had attempted to return previously stolen merchandise when she first entered the store, according to the documents. Summers was issued a $7,500 bond.
