Medina students help homeless with Socktober donations

MEDINA, Tenn. — Giving back to the Dream Center of Jackson, Medina Middle School students made their Socktober contribution Tuesday. Fourth graders collected hundreds of pairs of socks all through the month of October for the worldwide donation event. Originally started by YouTube star Kid President and the website SoulPancake, the Socktober campaign aims to help clothe the homeless. “The children all month brought in socks, brand new socks for children and infants all the way up to adults, and we just wanted to be able to bless somebody that needed warm socks,” said Stacy Stidham, a fourth grade teacher at Medina Middle School. In addition to the socks, $250 was raised by the kids. Last year, more than 10,000 churches, schools, families and businesses contributed to make Socktober 2013 a success.
