FRIENDSHIP, Tenn — Crockett County Sheriff’s Department responded to a double shooting in Friendship Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Troy Klyce said Mary Jane King returned home with her adult son and found her former boyfriend, Willie Claybrook, already inside the house. “The mom and the son followed him outside and were confronting him about why he was in the house, and he walks out to the back of the yard, finds a shot gun and just started shooting,” Sheriff Klyce said. Sheriff Klyce said presently the belief is that Claybrook planned ahead for this event, and he chased King and her son down the street firing several shots. Relatives of King said some bullets hit their home as well. After the shooting spree Sheriff Klyce said Claybrook returned to his home on Gin Road, where an officer later approached him. “When the officer was trying to get out of the car, he turned the gun on himself and shot himself,” said Sheriff Klyce, The sheriff said the gunshot killed Claybrook. Sheriff Klyce also said they’re still in the early stages of the investigation. King’s nephew, Drew Manns said Claybrook never showed signs of violence before, and that his family will be more cautious in the future. “Now this is a life learned lesson for all of us. Don’t let any one around unless you really know them,” Mann said. He also said King is recovering well, and the family hopes for a full recovery.
