GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A sheriff’s department trusty who walked away from work detail Monday and was captured shortly afterward has been charged in the escape. Joshua Ballard is charged with escape and theft under $500, according to Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas. The theft charge stems from the jail uniform that was missing when Ballard was captured. Ballard was located less than four hours after he escaped at the residence of his girlfriend, Jennifer Fuller, on Charlie Lewis Road in Trenton. Fuller is charged with accessory after the fact in the escape, Thomas said. Thomas had previously said Ballard was last seen around 3:30 p.m. Monday while on work detail at the Humboldt Police Department. Ballard had been jailed at the Gibson County Correctional Complex on counts of evading arrest and driving on a revoked license.
