Officials say fire that destroyed Jackson home caused by stove

EAST JACKSON — A Tuesday morning fire that left a Jackson family without a home was caused by an unattended stove, according to the Jackson Fire Department. Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen and that they believe the homeowner left a pot or pan on the stove when they went to work. Jackson firefighters were called around 8 a.m. Tuesday to Chipwood Drive in east Jackson after a neighbor reported the fire. Investigators say the home suffered extensive damage from both smoke and water. No one was home and no injuries were reported.
