EAST JACKSON, Tenn. — Women and children at the Dream Center in Jackson enjoyed a day of pampering Sunday. Local JCPenney salons teamed up to give free haircuts and makeup lessons to women at the Dream Center. The Dream Center’s website says they house people who have experienced crisis that has left them homeless. “Not everybody can afford a haircut. Maybe somebody has a job interview coming up and they don’t have the money or the means to come get styled to look better for their interview, or just need their children’s hair to look better for school. So this is a way we can give back,” Jackson area salon leader Brandy Crawford said. Twelve stylists from the Jackson and Dyersburg salons volunteered to help. Dream Center resident Cassandra Kee said she’s appreciative of the opportunity. “It means a whole lot. It’s extremely special and it makes all of us feel special and we just love it,” Kee said. In addition, organizers said a truck load of clothes was donated to the center. This is the first year JCPenney has hosted this event and Crawford said she hopes to make it an annual event.
