Changes for intersection at Hwy 45 bypass

JACKSON, Tenn — Changes are coming to the intersection of Casey Jones Lane and Highway 45, according to city officials Wednesday. Officials said TDOT received federal funds to continue with the intersection project. City engineers said that the plan is to allow drivers to turn left at the light going onto Highway 45 North instead of being forced to make a right and then make a legal U-turn in order to get on to Interstate 40. “We’re sure it’s cost every business in the area business because of it. People come in saying ‘you know it’s easy to get in your place, but it’s a challenge to get out,” said Clark Shaw, CEO of Casey Jones Village. Shaw said businesses in the area have been waiting on this for a while, and drivers welcomed the change as well. Jackson resident, Sherita Polk, said she does whatever she can to avoid the intersection. “I’ll just stay on the regular road instead of getting on that if I can. I’ll go other ways and sometimes it’s going around in circles, to keep from getting on there, but you do what you have to to be safe,” said Polk. Jackson city officials said property will be purchased for the project in 2015, and actual construction is planned to begin at the earliest in 2016.
