U.S. Marshals arrest alleged fugitive in west Jackson

WEST JACKSON — WBBJ was on scene Monday afternoon as a wanted man was taken into custody in west Jackson. U.S. Marshals tell us they and Jackson police arrested fugitive James Merriweather just before 4 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Williams street. According to police, Merriweather was wanted on cocaine and weapons counts and for violating his probation. Officers say he was the third fugitive taken into custody Monday by these officers.
