DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The suspect arrested Monday in connection with a deadly shooting on Woodberry Trail was in court Wednesday. Jeremy Echols has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of James Roberson. According to the affidavit, Echols told investigators Roberson had been threatening him. Police say Echols’ girlfriend told them Echols was crying about an hour after the shooting and made “tacit admissions about his involvement in the shooting,” the document states. Echols is being held without bond and is scheduled to be back in court Feb. 19 for a preliminary hearing.
