JACKSON, Tenn. — West Tennessee Healthcare announced Wednesday it is building a brand new medical center in Trenton. The West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees passed a resolution to build the 12,855 square foot facility at its Jan. 27 meeting. The new facility, to be located at 2017 South College Street, will consolidate the current Trenton Medical Center and Sports Plus Rehab Center into a spacious, easily accessible location on 2.83 acres in Trenton already owned by West Tennessee Healthcare. The new Trenton Medical Center will offer primary care services by Dr. Jim Williams and the staff of Christian Family Medicine, post-discharge follow-up care, disease management, rotating specialty clinics, X-ray and lab services, in addition to expanded and improved physical therapy services at Sports Plus Rehab Center. A pharmacy with walk-in and drive-thru access will also be offered. Gina Stein, who is disabled, said she is excited for the new facility. “Having a doctor close would be much better. I’m going to Jackson right now, was going to Dyersburg,” she said. Stein said her friend has to take time off work to drive her to Jackson for her doctor’s appointments. She thinks the new facility will save her time and money. “Now that that’s closer, he can work and then come home really quick, pick me up and we’ll be right there,” she said. The new facility will sit along the Highway 45 Bypass and South College Street. “We are excited to announce plans for this beautiful new building,” West Tennessee Healthcare President and CEO Bobby Arnold said. “It will support crucial outpatient services that are vital to this community, and we believe will draw patients from around the region. We hope to break ground early next month and open sometime in late fall.” The groundbreaking is set for Feb. 17. The organization said it hopes to open the new center’s doors this fall.
