Brothers injured in Brownsville shooting

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Suspected gunmen are still on the loose after a shooting Thursday night injured two brothers, according to police. According to the police report, brothers Joseph and Adrian Perry were sitting in a vehicle in a carport on Tyus Street. Around 10 p.m., police said two men approached the brothers and fired at least 20 rounds into the car. The suspect then fled the scene. The two brothers were rushed to two different hospitals. Adrian was taken to Jackson in stable condition and Joseph to Memphis in critical condition from a head wound. Family members said Joseph has undergone numerous surgeries since the shooting, and he is still in critical condition. “It could have happened to anybody, but it had to happen to mine,” said Lloyd Perry, the victims’ father. He said he doesn’t know the motive behind the attack, and he’s just hoping for his sons’ safe return. Neighbors said they’re saddened by the frequency of gun violence in their city. According to police, this is at least the seventh shooting in three months. The last shooting occurred the week before in north Brownsville. “It’s just sad really, that young cats like that right there can’t get along without solving it that way,” resident Travis Sweet said. Police said they are still searching for the suspects. To provide anonymous tips to help police, call Crime Stoppers at 731-772-2274.
