Chester Co. resident warns of apparent gift card scam

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — A Henderson woman wants to warn other West Tennesseans about the latest apparent scam hitting local mail boxes. Judy Alexander says she opened her mail to find what appears to be a Walmart gift card. The offer also appeared to come with free jewelry. Alexander says when she called the number on the back, red flags started going off. She says the company requested a bank debit card and her Social Security number. “Please, please, please do something with this card other than use it, because I really do believe in my heart it is a scam,” Alexander said. Alexander says she contacted law enforcement about the scam once she confirmed Walmart did not know about the apparent gift card.
