Key witness in Holly Bobo case found dead

DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — One of the key witnesses in the Holly Bobo kidnapping and murder case has been found dead. Shayne Austin’s attorney confirms he was recently found dead of a suspected suicide out of state, according to Decatur County Sheriff Keith Byrd. Austin had received immunity to testify against Zach Adams and Jason Autry only to have it thrown out after the prosecutor accused him of not being truthful and not fully cooperating. That prompted Austin to take civil action against the state. Austin had not been charged in the case. Austin’s attorney, Luke Evans, has previously said Austin agreed in early 2014 to give the state information about Bobo’s disappearance and death in exchange for immunity from prosecution. On March 27, 2014, an assistant district attorney sent Evans an email saying Austin had not been truthful and voided the deal.
