JACKSON, Tenn. — When it comes to your four-legged family members in extreme winter weather, vets say to keep your dog or cat inside with you if possible. According to veterinarians, when it’s this cold pets should only be outside for brief walks. “You basically want to put yourself in their paws,” veterinarian Jeremy Keen said. “You want to look at that and see if you go outside and you’re freezing, guarantee your pet is freezing, so keep that mental note there.” Experts say during walks, short-haired dogs may feel more comfortable wearing a sweater.
