JACKSON, Tenn. — Street department officials said main roads in Jackson are on their way to being clear, but there’s still cause for caution. Tennessee Highway Patrol officials said they received 79 calls in Jackson from drivers needing assistance, meaning they were stuck in snow or needed a tow. There were nine fender benders and two crashes involving injuries. “The main streets are looking pretty good, so I think another day of this and we’ll be OK. We’ll be in good shape,” said Johnny Weddle, street department supervisor. There were at least three accidents Thursday involving 18-wheelers sliding off the road. “I was waiting until one o’clock today, before I even moved,” truck driver Roy Thomas said. “Then I got off I-40, and that’s where I got stuck.”
