TRENTON, Tenn. — For many towns in West Tennessee, snow totals exceeded predictions. Some spent the day plowing, “I have to maintain some parking lots in town. This is one of them,” Danny Corley said. Some spent it sledding. “And now it snowed, and now we’re here sledding,” Stone Hall said. Others spent it as a family. “It’s always good to hit family members with snowballs,” Parker Finton said. For many, they had even more snow to play in than expected. The National Weather Service is reporting up to eight inches in Trenton on Thursday, the most the city has seen in five years. Corley, who spent Thursday plowing snow out of multiple parking lots, said he’ll be happy to see the temperatures rise again soon. “I like snow when it comes and goes away quickly,” he said. “I don’t like it when it stays very long. This is a little bit too much for us here.” With below-freezing temps expected to last a little longer, there are plenty of dangers on the roads. But for families such as the Finton’s, they say they’re ditching the car and making snow day memories while they can. “We’ve been out in it all day,” Parker Finton said. “We even walked to go get lunch.” His dad, Mark, added, “We walked to get lunch, we walked to the store and we’re out here sledding now.” By this weekend, temperatures should get warm enough to melt the snow away.
