MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Snow, ice and cold temperatures have created hazardous roads for many West Tennesseans, but how must is it costing road crews? The Tennessee Department of Transportation has been treating roads since snow hit our area, and they tell us their budget is in good shape as they prepare to fix pot holes. Officials say they have $4.9 million to start the winter season and that so far they have spent $3 million. “This event has been one of the larger ones we’ve had, but for the whole season we’re pretty normal for the budget,” said John Thomas of TDOT incident management. TDOT officials say they plan to work throughout the week covering potholes and that if another round of bad weather comes, they can move money from another department.
