HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirms 15-year-old Kayli Sue Odom was found safe Monday evening in Georgia after an endangered child alert was issued for her Monday afternoon. Odom was allegedly taken Sunday by her father’s girlfriend, Katie Nichole Shaffer of Florida, according to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. According to Humboldt police, Shaffer met Odom’s grandmother in Georgia and left her with the grandmother. Investigators believe Shaffer then left in a stolen 2000 sliver Chevrolet Blazer with Florida tags 4059PU or 405 PPU. She is believed to be headed to Florida. The grandmother took Odom to the Bulloch County, Ga., Sheriff’s Office where she later was released to the custody of her mother who lives in Richmond Hills, Ga., according to police. Humboldt police responded Sunday to a gas station on Central Avenue to a possible kidnapping and auto theft, according to a release from the department. Upon investigation, police issued arrest warrants for Shaffer for kidnapping and theft over $1,000, according to the release. The case is still an active investigation and Humboldt Police urge anyone who knows of Shaffer’s whereabouts to call them at (731) 784-1322.
