Bethel and Freed-Hardeman University learned their journeys to a NAIA National Championship on Wednesday evening. Freed’s women’s basketball team (32-1) earned a No. 1 seed and will face No. 8 Cal State San Marcos on March 18. Bethel’s women’s team (30-3) secured a No. 2 seed. The Lady Wildcats play No. 7 Williams Woods on March 19. FHU and Bethel crossed paths last season in the national tournament, and it may happen again this season. If both win out, the two West Tennessee schools would face off in the semifinals. On the men’s side, Freed-Hardeman collected a No. 4 seed to play Missouri Valley on March 19. Bethel’s men’s team will play on the same day against Pikeville. Both the men’s and women’s tournament will be played in Kansas City, Mo.
