MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — A big weekend is ahead in West Tennessee for runners of all ages. Even students at some local elementary schools will participate in the Andrew Jackson Marathon. Some students at Beech Bluff Elementary School have been running for months at a mile a day. They’ll log up to 25.2 miles before race day, then they’ll run their final mile Friday night. Teachers say it’s a great way for students to learn about setting and reaching goals. “As they set their goals and they practice and see that they have met those goals, they are motivated to do it even more,” Beech Bluff Elementary School teacher Daphne Johnson said. The Kids Marathon starts Friday night at 6:30 at Union University.
