JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County School Board approved the Early College High School Program Wednesday night in a vote of 8 to 1. If students participate in this program, they would have the opportunity to take college-level classes. The goal of the program is to give students the chance to be able to graduate with more than high school credits. “[It] allows our students to be able to experience a rigorous academic curriculum while earning college credit and certifications to leave school with as much as an associate’s degree,” said Dr. Verna Ruffin, superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools. More details about when the program will take effect will be announced at a news conference. Ruffin said that conference will be held in the next two weeks.
