JACKSON, Tenn. — Art is on display at Jackson City Hall featuring watercolors, acrylics and photographs. All of the 101 featured pieces are created by local artists. The Jackson Art Association held its Spring Art Reception and gave out 15 awards to artists in West Tennessee. The artists said their inspiration for their pieces comes in a variety of forms. Artists such as Tuva Stephens, who won best of show, said she taught the subject of art to students for years. Now she puts all of those lessons into her own work, such as “Mystic 7,” which won best of show. “I actually incorporated some letters, but then I hid a 7 in it. It just causes the person to wander around the painting,” Stephens said. The Jackson Art Association meets the first Tuesday of the month at the Lyons Club, and members said they always are looking for new members to be a part.
