MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Organizations teamed up Monday to help crime victims in West Tennessee learn about a nationwide program to keep victims updated. SAVIN stands for Statewide Automated Victim Information Notification. The program alerts victims when inmates get out of jail, move facilities or escape. The coordinator says it gives victims a sense of control. “Once that status of that inmate changes, you’re notified, and it’s automated and it’s confidential,” program coordinator Gary Cordell said. “The inmate never knows you’re tracking them, and it gives you some peace of mind to be able to prepare. It can actually save lives.” For more information about the program, visit the Seen on 7 section of our website.
