NORTH JACKSON — Jackson hosted a Caregiver Conference Wednesday afternoon, highlighting the caring and coping that goes into treating patients with Alzheimer’s. Different health outlets of Jackson, including members of The Foundation and West Tennessee Healthcare, provided their insight. Speaker and UNC graduate Teepa Snow brought her 30 years of clinical experience in the field of dementia care to her presentation. She offered her “takeaway” from the talk. “They’re going to need more skill than they have,” Snow said. “Second, that there are people around out there who could help them if they’ll pause a second and step back, and number three, they need to take care of themselves if they’re going to take care of somebody else — you can’t do this alone.” The event provided four contact hours for students studying social work at Union University.
