Man accused of assaulting Jackson officer during arrest to see grand jury

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man accused of kicking a Jackson police officer while being arrested earlier this month appeared Thursday in court, and his case will go before a grand jury. Billy Mullin Jr. was found carrying a revolver after police responded March 8 to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Stonewall Street, police have said. As he was being placed in the patrol car, an affidavit says Mullin kicked the arresting officer and at one point threw his entire body against the officer. Mullin also had a pair of brass knuckles, a substance that appeared to be marijuana and a bag containing what looked like cocaine in his pockets, according to the affidavit.
