Community gathers for Virginia Dorris memorial service

NORTH JACKSON — Countless mourners gathered Friday at a north Jackson church to pay tribute to and remember Virginia Dorris. The memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday at Northside United Methodist Church following a private visitation for those who knew Virginia best. Last Monday, police say Virginia was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, David Laster, who police say later turned the gun on himself, taking his life as well.
