PARKER’S CROSSROADS, Tenn. — Cannons fired and music of the Civil War played Saturday night as re-enactors and historians took their place on the battlefield. Spectators entered the battlefield to take a lantern tour at Parker’s Crossroads Battlefield. Soldiers fought in 1862. Union troops under Col. Cyrus L. Dunham fought Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrests’ cavalry. Re-enactors said they work hard to help people understand what happened at these battlefields. “We study hard to present to the person that comes out to this park an accurate look back through time at what it was like to be here on Dec. 31, 1862,” said Dr. E.C. Fields Jr., who portrays Gen. Ulysses S. Grant during tours. For more information about re-enactments and other events, visit the battlefield’s website at www.parkerscrossroads.org.
